I completed my play-though with Abzû not too long ago, and my was it quite the dive 😉. I always feel flustered when I 100% a game so quickly as I did with Abzû, because so many thoughts and emotions need to be perfectly placed in order to make a concrete-statement on what I thought about the game. I think its best if I just unwind my tale from beginning to end, so put on your scuba-gear and swim with me to the depths of the open-sea, and explore the not-so-subtle meaning behind Abzû.
For the latest titles of games; PlayStation Plus has released to its subscribers another treasure-trove of video games for April 2017. In the bundle of entertainment, none called out to me more than the subversive Abzû. Prior to downloading it on PlayStation 4, I actually was already intending on purchasing the title over on PC, but now that the title has released on the PlayStation Store I can wrap my head around the idea as to why it wasn't on sell yet. I was patiently waiting for Abzû to be on sale in Steam, however, its a pleasure to know the old saying is true "free things come to those who wait." 🤣 My first time playing Abzû I was a little bit under the influence, so needless to say it was quite the experience. For those who've never played a game inebriated, its a fast way to refocus oneself, or in simpler terms; pretty much just a quick way to snap out of it. So with a combination of me being in daze and Abzû's stiller graphics, actually made my jaw drop... as well as my eyes as I would not not nor could not blink 😅. My second go-around playing the game was a much more lucid experience; I passed the pass the game, enjoyed my time, and then immediately went back to get all the trophies.
Lets talk about the metaphorical dead-whale in the room. I did not play Journey, never have and probably never will, and yeah I'm probably missing out but in a way to me this is my Journey 😎. From what I understand the same artist that worked on Journey had a hand in this game, so even though you won't experience a play-though with another random individual, this game works for single-player gamers such as myself. So in total I passed the game in a good two days, and although you can do it a shorter time than that as always I strongly recommend taking your time in very-short video games like Abzû. If you've never 100% a game before this is a good starter. The amount of detail and fish displayed on the screen all at once is incredible. I will wrap this up by talking to an extremely niche audience, so if there are any nature-lovers out there particularly marine based, I highly advise you play this game as the message of Abzû is one of pure enlightenment and realization.
