Does the Legend of Zelda Need a Timeline

If you don't know this already The Legend of Zelda games have a very confusing story line. What makes them very confusing is that the games don't follow a linear path. So in order for people to understand the timeline they had to create a book about it. In almost every game the Main character, Link, is a reincarnation of himself. It is very rare to play as the same Link in different games. The only games that have actual sequels are The Legend of Zelda (NES), Ocarina of Time, and Wind Waker. Other than these games no other game has had a proper sequel. The games do reference each other but over all the timeline is just bananas. to help you see here is an illustration of the timeline.

This picture alone doesn't explain the timeline so well so here is the link to the wiki. I think the reason the timeline is such a mess is because the series wasn't supposed to have a timeline and it was created because the fans really wanted one. I am a huge Zelda fan and I have played almost all the games, except for the Oracle games. With that said the timeline has not made any of the games any better and if anything it hurts the games. Having the timeline only makes the overall story sound rushed and sloppy. Each Legend of Zelda game should be enjoyed as its own individual story. I would like sequels but ones like Majora's Mask. Since Breath of The Wild was released I honestly have no clue where that game is going to be placed in the timeline. All in all the timeline is a fun after thought, and theorizing about it is sometimes fun, but I hope Nintendo doesn't start restricting themselves to the timeline.

One final thought which is totally irrelevant. Why do people pronounce Ocarina as Ocareener? Is it some inside joke I'm not in on?
