Nintendo has been having a great year. Many would agree that this year is a great year to be a Nintendo fan. Since the switch came out Nintendo has been gaining popularity and they also received many perfect scores for their game, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Zelda did great but their best franchise Mario still had not made an appearance on the new console. It has been a long time since Nintendo has released a proper 3D Mario game. The king of platformers has been gone for a while and he has made his return but only stronger.
Super Mario Odyssey is the game collect-a-thon fans have been waiting for. The controls are tight there is a lot to do and the camera works. Mario's movement in this game is great he can move around so fluidly and with Cappy, Mario's new hat companion, Mario can do so much more. Have you ever watched someone speed run Super Mario 64? Well that's how Mario can move around in this game except its a lot easier to get the hang of it. The camera is never a problem in this game and if there is a wall that keeps you from seeing, well this game has a solution. You can see Mario's shadow through the wall.
There are so many things to collect in this game and the more you collect the harder the game gets. Once you beat the game there are still a lot more things to do because beating the game unlocks more and more collectibles. This is where the only problem I have became evident. Some of the maps are just boring and having to spend more time there was just not something I wanted to do, however this game is still fantastic.
I just finished running through the game, and I hate to be blunt (I prefer to be vague), Super Mari🌎 Odyssey is simply too over-hyped. Perhaps the enormous excitement comes from the fact that this is the Plumbers biggest foray on Nintendo's newest hybrid-console, that drew a ton of old & new players. I was under the impression this title was going to be open-world, although I am a tad bit disappointed the big N didn't that exact same treatment here as they did with Zelda. However, at the same time I'm glad Nintendo stuck to their guns and stuck to a more wider, hovering locals. Speaking of locals; everything is this game is a perfect mosh of nostalgia and continues ingenuity. For example, the Food World is probably a response from some angry parent parent from all the sugary themes 🤣🍧🍬. The best part of this purchase is that I didn't even buy it, my brother so hyped that I got the Switch he ended up getting it for both of us. I enjoyed my time in Mario's new adventure, and will continue to do so... after I collect a few more stars, I mean moons!

Personally I got bored with this game after 300 moons but that is going to be different for everyone. I am sure more dedicated fans will want to collect all the moons possible. This game is great and a fair competitor to Zelda for game of the year. Now the only question is what is your game of the year, I know what mine is but do you?
