First and foremost, you could consider this my first Fire Emblem game. Being as this is a free-to-play phone game, my co-blogger used his spell of casual-communications to easily convince me to download this free mobile title from the series. Now Nintendo has been slowly-but-surely dipping their foot into the app store market place, with some pretty pretty narly titles with Fire Emblem Heroes being no exception.Keep in mind I'm not the biggest fan of the franchise, nor do I really have any desire to get more into the series. Besides knowing a few of the characters from the Smash Bros. games I don't really feel the need to get past/upcoming games. However, what I will say is this application will do more than not give anybody who plays it a general consensuses of the world which is Fire Emblem. Also this review is being made after the Game Awards of 2017, because I wanted to wait until the show was over, and now that it is I can deliver my opinion to those curious about the nominee, as well as not appear click-baity as I havn't even seen the awards yet making it a little nerve-racking considering the score I have already given it.
I've played a good amount of mobile titles, and I got to say this has got to be by far the shining example of what an excellent phone game should be. There are no ads, the micro transactions are none-cumbersome, and its turn-based gameplay is spot on. The way I play this goes as follows; I regularly log in for the daily rewards, then proceed to at least get in one or two battles no matter where I am, but probably somewhere WiFi friendly. Whenever I get stuck in the story mode I then proceed to switch difficulties and if all else fails I simply hand my roster over to my buddy as he then buffs up my party with "git-gud" skills. I should probably one of these days learn how to beef-up my party myself, but so far my methods have been working on bringing me a satisfactory experience. There is a lot of content to be found in this game, many of which to this day I have yet to really grab a grasp on. The narrative is there is you want it, but honestly its your typical Japanese take on medieval-fantasy. You got your world previously owned by dragons, and your good vs evil storyline. This title in my opinion is what most phone games should be all about; providing as much as one can to the mobile gamer.
